I have learned that it is important to fully understand the audio file software before implementing it into your classroom. Keep in mind the Fair Use Act when utilizing music for audio file projects. The Fair Use Act is a doctrine created so that you may use a limited amount, 10% or less of copyright material without acquiring consent from the right holders. Sstudents must be familiar with copyright and give credit within their audio file projects to the owner of the content utilized with the name and URL. In my future classroom, I will have my students create their own podcasts in pairs over current events taking place in history. I also plan to create podcasts on my blog for my students to follow to aid with homework assignments. An awesome free audio file software to use in the classroom is Audacity. Recordings can be exported into different formats and posted online to the classroom website.
