Student Response and Assessment Tools
Student Response and Assessment Tools are used in the
classroom to get or give a quick a response from students. Clickers are an
important student response tool used by teachers to assess students
immediately. Students are given clickers and as the teacher asks questions the
students can press the corresponding button on the clicker to respond. The
student responses are sent to the teacher’s computer immediately sorted for
assessment. There are many program and tools that allow teachers to create
questions which in return either records or corrects student responses.
Socrative, Nearpod, Quizlet and Poll Everywhere are a few of those tools.
I have learned that Student Response and Assessment Tools encourage participation and interaction within the whole class. A teacher can interpret whether there is a full understanding of the material or not from the immediate responses. Student Response Tools are fun for students. They provide a quick way to check their answers and validate learning. Student opinions can be accessed anonymously to reduce peer pressure. In the future I will utilize clickers in my classroom to gauge student interest and check for understanding.
